[Build Log] Designing and Building My Own "Tube Style" Reservoir - Page 3

Got my o-rings in today will finally get my end mill tomorrow so i can get to finish the milling...

But for now i have refined the design and materials and already have a V2 model + a smaller version... biggrin.gif
700

Basically the way I was doing the first design used $40 worth of fittings to hold the tubes in place...
(That's fine for my personal res but puts a potential price way too high for those who have expressed interest. Not to mention the higher levels of leak possibilities.)

So while the new design looks the same I've eliminated the fittings and changed the tube to acrylic. Bonding them to the acetal. Still using a 3 piece design for maintenance.

Not to mention the possibilities for using color tubing rather than just clear. thumb.gif

No hard plans yet but the gears in my head are a turning. thinking.gif

Updates coming on my res in a couple days. biggrin.gif

You just don't stop tongue.gif These are beautiful, it would really have potential on the OCN marketplace as well as other sites. If you haven't already I would post them for sale on [H] and other sites thumb.gif

Long delay on updates sorry bout that. Been a hectic week.

Not much to update.
I got the channel milled for the o-rings. Its a little off because it was just a quick template I did to get these in and ready for testing. Both halves pulled together nice and tight. Also started working on thew finishing. Going to try to get a matte finish... need to get some sandpaper for wet sanding.
Having some real templates waterjet'ed soon.
Need to rundown a cheap pump and some fittings to get this tested and move on to the new design prototype!!!

UPDATE!!!!
I bet you though I had forgotten about you guys... NOPE.

Finalized the v2 prototype so as I can begin testing proof of concept!!! This is rough at this point because i want to test function alone. ill work on acetal finishing later.

So Like I stated before I wanted to shift away from the Pyrex tubing and BP fittings for v2. The acrylic tube bent up nice and fit really well. These are epoxied in at this point. Final models will be using an adhesive designed to bond acetal. I do like how the removal of the fittings cleaned up the lines at the ends.

So here are the pics.

Yep kind of turned into a future en-devour with the responses i have gotten from the build. Firdt things first though. The testing must be done. Cuz the thing is just a piece of artwork if it doesn't function properly. thumb.gif

LEDs "shooting" into the tops and bottoms of each of those tubes would be awesome! thumb.gif
