Is the clock difference between a 65nm and 80nm really make that much a difference in performance? I have been waiting forever for the X2900XTX to come out, and I just don't think I'll have the patience to wait for the 65nm, but if the performance is a large difference......

Not only that but I plan on getting a 1000W Silverstone OP for future X2900XTX Crossfire build so the energy usage shouldn't be too problematic for me.

If you are planning to go crossfire you may want to wait. Not because of the performance, but just because i don't think you'd want two different types of cards in there. The 90nm and 65 might work fine together...might not, no one knows at this point. Once they start making 65nm there won't be any more 90nm cards made.

Heh...I just got the 750watt, 60amp 12v silverstone and I just plan on running one. 750 would probally be enough to power two any way. You know there are going to be Dells sold with a X2900XTX OEM in them with some thing like 500w/20a 12v power supply...and they will probally work fine for a quite while too.

Apparently you people aren't caught up on the news. 80nm, not 90, not 65. 80.

stargate is right, its just going to be 80nm. Anyways, I've been an nvidian owner for 5 years and this is the first time I'm thinking about switching. With the higher clocks and buses it apears the r600 will have the performance edge, and the fact that it is going to be more DRM compliant means there will be less issues / conflicts so the drivers will be more stable. Unless nvidia comes out with something unexpected soon then I will have been converted, and then Crysis....here I come!

Well release is supposed to be 80nm, but there were rumors of the 65nm coming out in May.

Doh! heh and I even have a 80nm card. I just got caught up in the other posts.

Are they only making 80nm R600's? I was thinking it is kind of dumb to release a card just to switch to a different sized die in a few months. Where did this rumor come from any way? I don't think I've read it any where else other than this thread.
