(!) *Official* G80/nforce6 Discussion Thread - Page 5

What's the power draw on these? I read in a magazine (either MaximumPC or Computer Power User, I forget which one) that a power supply of at least 1000 WATTS is required to run the new DX10 cards from nVidia and ATi. That's just plain nuts if it's official. With 1000 watts, you could power a small home...

EIT: Added info to main page.

And if the inquirer is right (which I am sincerely doubting for this at least) this is a sad day for ocers.

Ya I'm pretty sure that just means there wont be any "overclocked edition" cards from manufacturers.

All I want to know is if the GF8800 gpu mounting pattern will be the same as 7900 and x1900, so gpu peoples coolers will fit.

It would be thoughtfull of Nvidia if it is.

Ok just to put this G80 overclocking scare to rest... some of you need to READ the article carefully. They are banning manufacturers from pre overclocking the card NOT THE END USER OVERCLOCKING IT!!!!!. ATI has been doing this for years, anyone noticed you cant get a X1900XT XXX edition??? Well now you cant get an nvdia one either. It only means no more XXX, BFG clocked and KO cards from retailers. With that said here is a neat peice of info from the inq. not that i trust them but still its news

I mean i think its reasonable to believe that it will score 12K plus but i heard thats with a Kentsfield proccessor, a Core 2 Duo at 2.9 will score you 10K
