As I said, I've no idea if those settings are 100% correct, they might be largely erroneous, but if I were to try a drastic overclock then it would fail to post as you'd expect from a working computer. Whenever I attempt a reasonable overclock it simply sticks me at 9x267.

I've found a some posts of others with p35 mobos who have had a similar issue; some have simply tried steps of reflashing/clearing cmos and others have disabled things such as legacyusbcodec. I've tried these steps with no luck.

Well the BIOS looks fine to me. Did you try dropping the multi to 8 and increasing the FSB?

Did you make any changes within windows?

Run a stress test to see whether or not all four cores are at 100%, use task manager or something.

I should probably say that this is a long running problem. It used to OC fine a number of years ago. I ran into issues where it would fail to post out of the blue and keep resetting itself, especially at times when it had been turned of for a few days - felt like I had to jump start it. The weird thing is that I got that very same OC I just posted to you 2 or 3 days ago but lost it to a post fail.

Nothing I can think of in windows that has drastically changed apart from going from XP to Win7. I'm scared that it's going to be a stupid issue like my USB mouse or something ridiculous as others have found it to be such things.

I have tried 8 multi and it fails to post. Not tried however since the last 24 hours of flashing and cmos clearing. I'll have another play with x8 now.

I assume you did a fresh install right?

Also might be a good idea to run memtest for a few hours at stock and also chkdsk for HDD errors might also be a good idea. Lastly I would probably try with only the essentials connected, one stick of RAM, one HDD etc.

I just checked pics of your mobo, are you using 8 pin or 4 pin for the mobo?

498

From what I see, RAM support for the mobo is 1066, anything above that is usually considered as an overclock. Try a different strap and reduce the frequency from 1333mhz to 1066mhz.

Is your bios update (long standing issue or not)? Is the mobo clean? Do you have bulged caps on the board?

I'll try bring the ram down to 1066. Bios has been flashed from newest F12 down to F9, back upto F12 with no luck on any.

I believe the board uses 4 pin.

Did you try inserting the 8 pin?

That just happened for no reason. I stuck at 9x333 but brought the ram thing down to 1068 and set vcore to 1.35, everything else same as above; it didn't even shut off following saving bios, just a soft restart to 3ghz.

I dont understand this computer man...

Sorry I don't understand what you mean when you say 8 pin?

PS: Thanks so much everyone for the help thus far.
