I honestly believe the price will probably decrease in May or June...As of now, i's too soon for AMD to start cutting prices thinking.gif

Makes total sense..

You can't game with an Intel IG and some don't have Oldies.

Yes, because not gaming for one or two whole days extra is going to be a horrific experience, well worth going with a product other than what you actually wanted on an expensive purchase. /sarcasm smile.gif

And besides you can find these cards for less then MSRP if you really want one. I got mine a week after release for 500 dollars BNIB off ebay from a guy who happened to live 15 minutes away and I picked up the same day I clicked buy it now. (with 500 dollars in pocket from selling my 480 SLI setup) He told me he was selling two basically unused Asus reference cards because he decided he wanted to wait for the DC cards from Asus. His loss my gain though as this sucker does 1300mhz.

Forget the availability of the 680's. The moment the 670's and lower release, AMD is screwed. They need to swallow their pride and losses and drop the prices. No one with a brain would spend $50 more on an inferior product. They'll just wait until they can get their hands on a 680.
This makes no sense. Why would you sell your 570 if you know you can't find any 680's?
Wait until 680's are available, order, put up 570 for sale and collect. Even if you didn't do that, any 'hardcore' pc gamer will have a backup GPU. I myself have a 4870 just for that. I actually sold my 580 and used my 4870 until the 7970 released.

well said.

If you cant afford it you cant stick you low end cards. I am just stating facts. Even if GTX680 was $600 it would have sold out. Its $500 because thats the right price for the card. HD 7970 as a card is overall more advanced and more expensive to make. It has more vRAM and More Computer power. GTX680 got gaming down. Yeah i want $300 GPUs too but its not going to happen. So if you think about it in pure facts. Why should HD 7970 be sold for cheaper when there is no GTX680 to buy? Also a person that buys a high end GPU does not pay per price/performance. That being said how many people would be ticked off if HD 7970 drooped to $450 knowing a lot of them payed $600, that just loses customers.

Not necessarily slower, and depends on your usage. Cards have more uses than just gaming.

Now I don't know why AMD would want to give up their price advantage but most consumers simply aren't as educated as we are and there is something to be said for being the slightly more expensive 3gb 7970 looking pretty awesome to a lot of people. On paper it looks like a better card even though performance is essentially tied.

Besides like I said this is not about the 7970 it's about the 7850. Anyone who thinks these companies make their money in the 500 dollar range has no idea how this works.

I waited for the asus 7970 for a while and just took too long so I bought the diamond. Same thing with these, might aswell get whats available rather than wait.
