Did I already mention that the 3 is length adjustible in this thead? You need a tiny Philips and the correct size of torx to do it though.

Hello all,

I see this thread is about 8 months old, hence why I'm posting in it.

(Asking questions about LONG TERM DURABILITY, and how you would rate doing RMA's on the product.
Really hate those threads in which the poster "just" got xyz product and it's all shiny and new and they due to human nature overlook problems the device might have as we tend to do with "shiny new toys" so to speak. EG: No-one likes to admit they purchased a crappy product.)

Been reading on the net - certain batches of MadCatz Cyborg R.A.T's had poor quality control or people were having bad experiences with Mad Catz tech support, and or getting a defective product RMA'd.

As I will be ordering new, hope I won't get one from a defective batch and Mad Catz quality control has improved. I see on Amazon a rep from MadCatz has /was responding to neg feedback so maybe MadCatz is waking up to the fact in order to migrate from being known as a manufacturer /distributor that makes "cheap" stuff they need to stand behind what they sell and issue a Pre-Paid RMA label and do a hassle free exchange when things go wrong.

How would you guys rate the Rat 3, 4, 7?
If you had to RMA it, please rate the RMA process.
If parts broke off the mouse, etc - did they just mail you out the pieces (@no-charge) or did you have to RMA the entire mouse with YOU having to pay the shipping, or did they issue a RMA label. If a pre-paid RMA was issued please state if MadCatz issued it, or the seller (Amazon, Buy.com issues pre-paid labels), most manufacturers make YOU pay when they make junk. Stuff like that.
How is it holding up LONG term?

Please state what model you have, and how long you've had it, Month-Year it was purchased.
(This helps nail down when it was manufactured - See last paragraph)

Additionally state how much use it gets, if you are EASY on the device (slow moving games) or are HARD on the mouse (Action games, FPS shooters)

Oh,

If the device has any batch, serial numbers or manufacturing date on the device post it.
(On serial numbers if your paranoid leave off the last 3-4 characters.)

Reason for doing so?
Without such it's hard to tell which factory, or during what time frame the "Bad" ones are coming from.

About the time of my previous post, around 4 months ago via a rebate deal which part of the package was a RAT3, got a RAT3 as cost was low.

RAT3 back piece is adjustable in length (2mins or less to adjust)
Via adding a thread rod to where the red wire comes out back of mouse and discarding wire (it is cosmetic) a set of weight could be added.
Cord of mouse is TOO stiff, needs to be more flexible.
The surface area of the contact pads (sliding surfaces) is small I guess to reduce friction. Pad(s) are pretty thin. Seems like the compound used is soft /wears quickly. Not happy with the amount of wear for the light use it's gotten. Doubt pads would last a year with 95 web browsing 5% light gaming use.
Do not know how well software works...

Note to self, need to contact MadCatz and see if I can get them to ship me a couple of replacement sets.
