GTX 460 - Dropping to 0% usage under heavy load (could be mobo), help!

Yo,

I've recently started to have some serious problems with my GPU.

While I'm playing any PC game, weather it's pushing my 460 to 50% or 99% load, it will frequently drop to 0% usage.

These dips last anywhere between one to ten seconds and cause the game I'm playing to freeze for that duration of time, looping the in-game sounds while frozen.

It's really weird, while it's frozen I can still hear everyone on ts3 fine and they can hear me. So I don't think it's my PC freezing.

I've tested my RAM and CPU (It doesn't get above 55°C) and they're both fine. There's no background applications running etc. The PSU I've had has been fine with this setup for a long time so I can't imagine it being that.

I've clean installed the NVIDIA drivers (both old then new ones) and it's not fixed it with either.

I'm going to take my GPU to my friends this weekend and test it in his machine, if it's doing the same thing I know I just need to but a new one (them 680s looking damn fine). But if it's not that, could it potentially be anything else than my mobo? And how would I find out?

What the damn **** **** is happening?!? D:

338

Every time the usage drops, even if it's dropping to just 50% the video freezes. While I'm playing games, they will be about thirty seconds apart and last around five seconds.

I appreciate any help you can give.

Cheers!

I'm leaning towards GPU, you're doing well to test it in another machine that should tell you definitively.
