Sound padding material: what properties to look for? - Page 2

I understand. I intend to use small sections of it on my car's panels, but use other lighter sound deadening material over that. From what I understand a small square of it stops the panel vibrations as the waves hit it, but I guess for competition systems you want those panels as heavy as possible.

i've seen these 12x12 peel and stick cork tiles at a store, i guess used for pinning notes etc. i was curious how well cork does for sound damping. i think they're about 1/4 inch thick. anyone have insight on this type of material?
