Again, your CPU is not bottlenecking your 5850s. A pair of 5850s is right around the same performance as a pair of 6850s which not even an Athlon II X4 will bottleneck. Unless you're playing at a ridiculously low resolution like 1024x768, your video cards are you bottleneck.

Where was there evidence of bottlenecking in that? All I saw was that GTX 680s do not scale linearly in BF3. After this, I'm convinced that you don't know what bottlenecking is.

Does that mean they're just releasing driver updates for the 5000 series without actually changing anything?

Pretty much a version change with no actual driver changes for that generation. They stopped tweaking the drivers for them cards a long time ago. Which is logical as they should be tweaking the 6000 and most importantly the 7000 series drivers now. Finding a driver optimized for BF3 for a 5000 series card isn't going to happen. Even if it ends up in the queue of planned things to do, AMD wont get to it until a year from now.

id get ivy, it is kind of an obvious question, sure it might be 10% faster, but that is still 10% slower with Sandy.

You don't need Z77 for Ivy, but if you want you can mess with MVP with a Z77 board.

Just get sandy. Even if Ivy is 10% faster, if your computer is used for gaming then that's maybe a 1-2% increase? The GPU's are what really matters for gaming. Save your money and buy good GPU's.

Reading this and your post before this, I feel I need to point out that there is no "Real World" difference you are going to notice between x16x16 and x16x8. 2ndly, it won't matter about the Ivy bridge and lanes as the Z77 boards will only do x16x8.
