Mass Effect - Running out of virtual memory? - Page 2

I'll try the pagefile first, then move on to the full reinstall. Can someone tell me where the player profile is saved, just so I have a backup of some sort (in the event that the uninstall screws up)?

Even used Windows 8 with no Pagefile and it was fine. I know you lose the ability to save minidump information on crash etc, but who cares about that? Just make it so the PC doesnt auto reboot on failure and it will keep the error for you to write down anyway smile.gif
Edit: Just disable them all and see how the PC is on Mass effect, if the error is gone then its fine. Setting a minimum size PF will cause more problems if it is saying the system managed one is too small.
Edit edit: You will need to restart for effects to take place. tongue.gif

No, enable page file... no harm if you do but there is a chance of issues with out.

Some benefit at margin cost is better than some loss to save marginal costs.

You might be fine without the paging file but not everyone has the same workload.

I'd say let him test with it disabled, no harm in trying biggrin.gif

But i agree, workloads using MASSIVE amounts of ram.. To have the additional Pagefile to fall back on is useful, rather than it just crashing.

But i do Music production, some 3D work and use up to 92% RAM and i have never had issues redface.gif

I rarely have enough programs open to fully saturate 8GB of RAM. I run my laptop with 2GB of RAM (state owned, so no upgrading) and my sig rig used to have 4GB until I upgraded to 8GB for the heck of it.

I'm surprised that nobody caught on to the 45 minutes thing. Sounds to me, like there's a memory leak caused by ME somehow, and it takes 45 minutes to leak 8 gigabytes, for lack of a better way of saying it.

However, ME isn't a game that is known to do this. I suggest you back up your saves and re-install ME. I suspect that something is corrupt, and leading to your memory leak.

You're not using Texmod or something, right? If you don't know what that is, the answer is no.

That's what I was thinking, but on crash, my memory usage is as normal. Even with the LAA tag.

And no, I am not running Texmod (completely vanilla install; only patch was 1.02 with no DLC).

EDIT: It happened again, after about an hour. It only happens where there is a new area/texture to load, so I figure I'll do a full reinstall and go from there.
