My PC sometimes freezes on the ASUS splash screen and I can't do anythign??

First off I think that this is the right thread for this, If not sorry. Anyways, Yeah sometimes when I boot my PC up the ASUS splash shows up (the one that says "press DEL to enter EUFI BIOS, or whatever that bios is I always get the lettering wrong doh.gif). I have no idea what is causing it. I try to hit DEL to enter the BIOS but it doesn't work. I have tried just letting it sit thinking maybe its just taking a lot longer then usual, but nothing happens so I have to shut the computer off. And when I shut it off and re start it it starts up fine... It doesn't even start up in safe mode like it usually would if I just cut the power like that.

Anyone have any Idea what this is due to? or why it is happening? And if it is harming my computer?

First question has to be "have you overclocked anything?". An unstable overclock could quite easily cause this. Mainly either your CPU or your RAM.

If you have overclocked then reset to default and see if the preoblem persists. If you haven't overclocked then I would carry out a CMOS reset. On your board I assume (as it is nearly identical to mine) that you firstly power off, disconnect your PSU (just to be sure), and then move the jumper switch on your motherboard to the right for 10 - 20 seconds. I do it for 20 seconds (again just to be sure) and I also hold the power button down at the same time. Not sure if that last step is necessary but it certainly doesn't do any harm.

I'd try those steps first and let us know how you get on.

No I haven't OC'd anything.. I will look up to see what the exact steps are for a CMOS reset. Thanks a lot.
