Who they hell needs a stable OC for a GPU like the 7970? The only thing I OC them for is benching and if its stable enough to get a result that's plenty stable for me. When doing any gaming or anything else really there is no need to OC these cards as they have way more than enough power at stock clocks for any game/situation....

You have a point. However all lies with the card you get. I hardly have had any luck getting a good overclocking cards, yet my first card can do 1270 on the core max stable, 24/7. 2nd card can do a little more but have at 1270 also.
So I can see what he means, some of the reviews do seem very tame.

I think 7970 prices should be lowered, but I suspect the higher price on the lightning is because it is eyefinity 6. Most people are oblivious to this fact, it costs more because of it. Also, anyone spending 600$+ on a GPU and getting a cheap trash TN panel with nothing but DVI connections has issues. You don't spend a ton of money (500$+) without a corresponding investment in a proper 2560 panel or a 27"+ 120hz. If you do, you're crazy.

I enjoy my 120 Hz 23" display, thanks.

I really enjoy my 27" 120Hz monitor but I have to say that it has been a bit buggy with DP. Every now and then my monitor loses signal and I have to turn it off and turn it back on to get it back. My secondary monitor runs fine on DVI so I am guessing this is a driver/DP issue with AMD. Sigh...

After the reboots i then did the uom cfg mod to ab and rebooted and all was good to go. Dont have any driver issues or voltage issues.

Make sure the screens have your OCN name in it.

Its not, this has happened to me on multiple cards. What I would do is use a pure mDP cable! If you use an adapter you will lose signal now and then, this has happened on my 580s and other GPUs as well.

Any type of converter = bad and finnicky generally speaking. You can get a good cable from monoprice, since I switched to a pure mini DP > DP cable i've never had that problem, I also used a pure DP>DP cable on my 680 box. Monoprice.com is the best place to get a good cable smile.gif

Bah sry work and the wife have pulled me from my computer for a bit and 3dmark has seemed to quit working even after reinstalls so ill need to reinstall windows it seems. Ill boot up uniengine either later tonight or tommorow and post some shots. Wish i could use higher that 1150 on the core but the top card just gets way to hot when playing bf3 (90+ degrees) at only 1.15 v. The problem is the bottom card's hot air gets sucked into the top. When the top card hits 90* the bottom will be at 60* max, it sucks lol. Those ek waterblocks cant come soon enough
