Oh I don't get that. The Phantom reminds me of like an air conditioner unit attachment or some industrial thing in a factory.

What's the deal. It's so blocked rectangle and uniform.

Not my horse race.

This one is here is blah, ok at least they have some yellow flash to it but it's not style either.

Black doesn't do it, black doesn't do anything, black black black black, why ? ( not saying you or anyone this is general )

I mean I know, everyone claims black... (it's group brainwashing if you ask me)

Sorry, so sick of black.

You know a year or two back China ran out of black dye for computer parts - LOL

They had an extreme shortage and had to substitute something else for black dye.

(Ok this MSI looks good installed in the case - the msi round glowing caps module on the back of the card, the larger rectangle vents on back plate, the gold tinted heat pipes and the slab of fins sticking out by power connects ... yes, they did a good job there because THAT'S what we see once installed !)

Good job for once. Thanks for thinking beyond the unboxing stage, my my years later the obvious finally clicks...( oh my god I so mean that )

That's your opinion and I have mine. We're talking about looks here, not facts, just opinions...

Absolutely. That's why I mentioned that's what makes horse races.

Whoops. Missed that part. I do completely agree though, it is the back of the GPU that matters since we don't do inverted ATX, and nobody really gets that... frown.gif

No, it does not work if you do a *fresh* install of 12.2 or higher, but if you do an overlapped install it should work.

This is why I said to use GPU tweak, GPU tweak will extend clocks even with a fresh install. And you can use those extended clocks in afterburner and uninstall GPU tweak afterwards.

Here's two good reasons to want the MSI Lightning 7970.

1. It looks good after being installed.

msi lightning 7970 amd looks good installed it's a miracle!.jpg

2. It has a neat unique glowing performance improvement removable plug in module.

Good job. ( the round octagonal glow cap you see above is removed below )

I'd say those looks should be worth $50 extra vs the green competition.

I am pleased the corporate design heads finally decided to think about the little guy who doesn't have 5

open bench units at the testing lab/internet review shop with picture and video and promotion requirements

that can show the entire card all the time, and paid attention to we the customers who by

necessity have our cards installed in cases.

1190 MHz, come on, even 99% of the reference 7970's can do ~1200MHz+.
I reckon this card will do well above 1300MHz on air if someone from OCN gets his hands on that.

I have owned 2 that would not go over 1180!
