No, they aren't. The Chinese government and Foxconn are to blame for that. Are they "taking advantage" of it? Yes, but now that they know it's affecting their consumer sales due to conscious consumerism and whistle blowers, Apple and Foxconn are working towards improving the working conditions of the manufacturing plants.

Plus, I'm sure the poor working conditions pale in comparison to the US Armed Forces murdering thousands of people abroad.

EDIT: To stay on topic I've owned a Windows Phone for the past year and a half (HTC HD7) and I love it. I'm really excited about this new Nokia, but I wish it was on T-mobile...at this rate I'll have to buy out my contract and go back to AT&T.
