Cmon man. you like Final Fantasy 1 better than FF7? thats ridiculous. FF1 was a horrible game with no plot whatsoever.

If it wasn't for FF1 there never would have been a FF7. I liked what I liked, get over it.

I think games have gone on a steady decline and likely will continue to do so as long as people are prepared to pay for bad titles.

It's turned into a profit-only industry with devs churning out games/dlc's to line their pockets. The passion to make a good game/story has, in some cases, gone. It's all about the money. When priorities shift this way, i think quality will always suffer.

I sincerely think the Games industry will go the way of Hollywood or the music industry at some point in the future. Churning out recycled, manufactured garbage that the masses just seem to lap up.

Age of Empires (I thought III was drastically worse)
Anything made by Bioware after EA bought them

1) totally agreed
2) I think its stayed pretty much the same
3) Ever heard of Guild Wars 2?
4) I like where they're going with Fall of the Samurai, I think the series has drastically improved.
5) No comment
6) Blame Halo for killing Ensemble Studios, I wasn't a big fan of 3 either, just didn't feel right age of enlightenment with no european theatre? Would have liked to see 4.
7) eugh

Just DON'T look at Empire Earth.... Oh dark were the days. I've never regretted buying a new game this much ever....

So I'd say it all hinges on the Strategy and MMO genres. The other games are too easy to make for console and as such that will be the target. But I doubt they'll ever be able to truly put a solid RTS into a console. Civ (I know its TBS not RTS) they tried but I don't think it worked very well. Then for MMOs there's Guild Wars 2, it may not truly be new and innovative but its what an MMO should be imo.

When it came to TES I started playing at Skyrim. I tried to play Oblivion but I found it too aged. I'm sure its a great game but I'm having trouble really getting into it after playing a more streamlined prettier version first.

However I was raised on the original DK, Frogger, Commander Keen, Centipede and Space Invaders. They were great too but they don't have the hook that a well designed new game has. It just has to do with depth and ease of access if you ask me. A game needs those two things and people nowadays seem to be content with BOOM BANG BLOOD MULTIPLAYER HEADSHOT and that's it. No thought needs to be put into games to make them sell so companies don't unless they're trying to do something different.

Nope, was completely unrelated to what you said, I was simply in a rush to head out to a buddies house, that thought popped in to my head.

Really? In what way? I think the whole Age of Empires/Mythology series was consistent in excellence up until Ensemble was disbanded. Probably the most consistent of any series in gaming so far. Each title built upon the last, and they made no illogical backwards steps.

Age of Empires Online is a travesty, and it's making a mockery of an established and well respected brand. Damn them to hell.
