Is Emotiva mini-X a-100 better than Audioengine N22?

New class A/B speaker amplifier: http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/amplifiers/products/a100

Review: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-57405240-47/emotivas-sweet-sounding-$219-amplifier/?tag=txt;title

Both cost nearly the same.

How are they compared to the Dayton DTA-100a whose price is about $90?

I'm sure the Audioengine is good, but I would go with the Emotiva. I have actually been eying this thing for awhile. The Emotiva has more power per channel and it also has a better power supply section. I would be weary of the power brick that comes with the Audioengine. That might lead to some noise within the N22 amplifier when the power brick starts to get old.

The Emotiva has a fan on it which I think is awful, but unless it's mounted inside of a very tight cabinet, I have heard that the fan doesn't kick on.

Thank you.

I was feeling that fan would be a kind of deal breaker for anyone who desires a silent PC like me. Are you sure that the fan stays turned off in normal use with the amp on a table aired?

The fan is set to turn on based on temperature. All reports I have seen have shown under normal use, in an open space, the fan doesn't kick on. I believe that CNet article also said the same thing.

I'm sorry for my disregard. I'll read again the review written by Steve.

Do you think this Emotiva matches well with a pair of NHT SuperZero 2.0 and one NHT Super8?

I can't say if it would be a match for those speakers or not. I have not heard the speakers, and I have not heard this amp. I have read some things about the Emotiva amps and I have heard that they are "good." I think it would make a good choice for the price range, but I can only say that because of speculation.
