Even if the new xbox has a 6670, the games will look superior to current gen games like Battlefield 3, The Witcher 2 and Shogun 2 because developers can optimize specifically for that hardware. It's also worth noting that an xbox does not run windows - when it's playing a game, ALL it is doing is playing a game. Thus, with consoles developers can leverage a lot more graphics power out of seemingly meek hardware.

I do believe that when consoles come out, you will see a similar jump in graphics on the PC. This is due to the fact that most AAA games are multi-platform (not console ports), which have to run on the weakest system, which right now is the xbox 360. When that weakest link is strengthened, I think you'll see a lot of graphics improvements on the PC side as well, as they're able to fully utilize directX 11.

Consoles and PCs both have their advantages and disadvantages, let's not fight over it.

Not really. People I've talked to that have played the console and PC version always say that the PC version is worlds better. That would seem to point to the PC version as being the one that got the most attention. Also, the PC maps are far bigger and higher detailed. I find it amusing when people still say that BF3 was a console port. If it is a console port, then the console guys got screwed, and BF3 is the most well done console port of all time. rolleyes.gif


Back on topic, I'm interested to see what devs can do with these new consoles. They have done some pretty good stuff with the current crop, but it is finally getting to the point where the current console hardware cannot go any further. Even a lowly APU by itself will be a huge upgrade from the current consoles, let alone if there is a second video card ontop of the one on the APU. I'm looking forward to it. thumb.gif

The PS3's cpu can handle a lot of the graphics workload, so with properly coded software the PS3 is actually more powerful. Early ports to the PS3 sucked, but even they have gotten very good now as development tools have made it easier to utilize the extended functions of the CELL processor.

Phew, I really doubt it.
That's a lot of ram if your not supporting an OS. I'd say 1-2GB's especially with how conservative they are being with the rest of the system.

All I remember is an article in August stating that they had pushed their lead developers to the console.
You may very well be right and they may had lied throughout but they probably did start primarily on the PC (though it probably didn't matter one ounce).
It is blatantly obvious though that it has more than a hint of consolitis. If not consolitis, consoluenza. My point is that developers probably don't want to push graphics and games' architecture to the brink of what the PC can do for fear of it taking a major rework to get it onto the consoles, that and the lack of PC gamers just doesn't justify it's cost, nevermind PC gamers with high mid-high end GPU's - and you always have the publisher standing in the corner tapping their feet. Just because the game looks a little bit better on the PC doesn't make it a primarily PC developed game, let alone close to the capabilities of PC hardware. BF3 could look a hell of a lot better in terms of architecture in my opinion.

It's the same thing with the Witcher 2. The development was obviously done with the console lurking in the back of their heads, even if it was completely developed for the PC first.

A member on another forum wrote that if in 2008 someone told him that BF3 was going to be the best looking game of 2011/12 and showed it to him, he would have laughed.
