I very rarely buy console games new. What's the point? Used plays the same as new. The only downside is when the new box comes with codes for DLC or an Online Pass (EA garbage)

PC, my preferred choice, is obviously a different matter..

theres alot of could in this world
i could be doing something active
i could be smarter
i could are more or less
i could, but i wont

gamestop could sell there assests and have 1 or 2 rich owners now, instead of 2 or 10 years from now when everything is all digital.

gamestop could, not sell the ps4, then they loose there market share with sony, cause sony could and should deny them psp stuff, and acessories, and so forth

gamestop could not sell the ps4, then they would loose all that money from selling millions of consoles, and all the games still and what not.

if gamestop things its pre-owned is doing well its not, in winnipeg (where i live) they sell used games for the same price, to litterally 1-2 dollars less then NEW, so no one buys new, and they give flip all for credit for a new game.

@ MetalDude I hardly find any used PC games before 2002 and they're only found in salvation stores : <<br />
As for consoles, the gamecube and DS were the last consoles I've supported new or old games for. Kind of sad really, I just never got into the hype of these current-ones (I might buy the Vita when I start seeing more games I'd play.) Come to think of it, I shopped at Gamestop maybe once or twice in the past 3-5 years. Personally I wouldn't miss it, and I couldn't see it being a big-deal whether or not it shuts down (Gamestop is following Blockbuster to me.)

Playstation wouldn't suffer, gamers would just buy the Playstation Orbis elsewhere. Either way, it'd suck for Gamestop.

My advice for Gamestop, evaluate your business model for future changes, and adjust,... else you'll go the way of Blockbuster via Redbox.

Blockbuster couldn't have won that fight. If they had come up with the "automated video dispensary system" like Redbox did, then they'd be slammed as a job killer and "only concerned with the bottom line," etc. But since a new company did it, they are touted as being kings of innovation and thinking outside the box.

I wonder if GameStop might be facing the same sort of no-win situation. And really, what can GameStop do? They can't start their own virtual game distribution app for Xbox or Playstation - the brands already monopolize digital purchases on their platforms. I don't think there are any "adjustments" that could be made that would save Gamestop from eventual demise...

I don't know how people are trying to compare a console online store to Steam. Sony and Microsoft already have online stores for their consoles. Always full priced titles, rarely ever any sales. At least not sales like Steam has.

Most of the console games here at my house are tongue.gif

No sense in paying upwards of $60 for games for the kids when they'll be interested in it for... a week maybe at most? Easier on the wallet to just buy the $5-15 pre-owned game that they want from the shop down the road.

And the only time I buy games on Steam anymore are when they're on sale for $5-10.

As if the gaming industry will die if they made the games non transferable. Playstation and xbox are heading this way, PC already did long time ago. Are they saying that the consumers will just stop playing video games because of this? Nope, we love video games, we will continue playing video games even if it's locked out and can't be sold anymore.

As long as there is an ODD, im good.
