[GI] GameStop could refuse to stock PlayStation Orbis, says Pachter - Page 7

maybe an activation limit on the number of different consoles it can play on would be a good middle ground.

Possibly have it so there is a 3 console number limit then charge like $2.99 to add more. As long as its reasonable and gives us better games the next 5 years I have no problem with it.

I don't think this would hurt PS4 sales at all - not even in the least. If someone wants a PS4 they have a ton of places to buy it and I don't see anyone really caring where they buy it from as long as they get it. There are enough retail fronts that will stock it that I think GameStop would just hurt their own figures and Sony will be just fine.

Not allowing used games is a terrible idea IMO, that'd be like not allowing renting of movies.

so what platform are you going to use to play games? PC? Most PC games are locked to your account nowdays, same as the consoles are going to be.

Won't be a problem for me, I rarely support the companies that use restrictive DRM or accounts for games. I buy about 20-25 games per year, and maybe 3 are made by EA, Activision, or UbiSoft.

But soon everything will have some kind of DRM, it's inevitable. Don't get me wrong, i don't agree with this but there is nothing we can do.

I personally don't care what happens as long as Gamespot can stop charging exorbitant amounts of money for the same game. They can make $500 from a single game and the developer will never see any of it.

Our society rewards business decisions over innovation and I'm all for measure that will stop this. If this means Gamestop has to go out of business then so be it.

Bring on digital distribution. Bring and Mortars will just have to evolve.

GOG is branching out into newer games while keeping things DRM free. If they continue to push forward(and prove to the invesetor types that they can be profitable), we may have at least one avenue to avoid DRM.

Gamestop does not have exclusivity, when I bought my 360 it was on BF @ best buy 2005 and I actually waited in line till 5am and got my console then sold it on ebay for 3 times the amount, same as for the PS3 in 2006.. My point is that it obviously going to be their loss since there will be so many more retailers willing to stock them up and sell'em like hotcakes. Gamestop does not make the rules, the console makers do so if they don't want to stock the console they lose a big piece of the cake. It will eventually be their demise.

Sarcasm bro, sarcasm. Find out what it is.

I think most people are missing the point of this, it isn't about gamestop not stocking it, its about gamestop not supporting a system that doesn't support their system which is 2nd hand sales. Everyone seems to think gamestop will be losing out by not selling this system which in reality they are losing out wheather they sell the system or not because it wont support used games. I think that the demand for piracy and ways around the DRMs will continue rise because people just cannot afford to spend the amount that new games cost these days
