Then the price in your country is normal.

I think you need to organize it a little bit.

FIRST OF ALL, do you want to have a system that can be upgraded later? Or just like your old one, completely not upgradable?

Then in second place, how much you plan to throw? wink.gif

Old parts that you SHOULD replace:
1. CPU + MB
2. GPU (optional if you don't play a lot of game)
3. memory (optional, as I assume they are DDR3)

The rest you can reuse! thumb.gif

So, please tell me if 2 and 3 are optional.

Well the Core2 duo is still a great chip. IMO just grab a good GPU. If you really want to upgrade, you can probably snag a Core2 quad for pretty cheap. Still very good CPUs. I would grab a GPU for now, since you don't have one and upgrade your CPU and mobo later when you have a little more funds tongue.gif

Edit: Do you have your Core2 Duo OC'd?

So you are buying:
CPU+MB+GPU for 270US$. This is a hard task. rolleyes.gif

1. I don't think you want to do crossfire or XLI even after upgrade. So you will only need ONE GPU. Buying a not good one for 70-80$ then throw it away several years later is not a good idea. A good one like AMD6850 is just 120EURO/ 150USD now!
2. CPU is the component that you can save some money if you buy a good GPU.
3. MB is the base for everything. It must be a good one (not like the one you have now) to do later upgrade.

So:
I think you can try the following:
plan A. Just buy one AMD 6850 for 120Euro/150USD and install it into your current system. If you are happy with it, stop right here! save money for CPU+MB later! party.gif

plan B: Buy a good AMD APU+ good AMD MB that cost 270USD without buying a GPU. If you think gaming is not good, you can buy a AMD GPU to crossfire with the APU. biggrin.gif

At last, AMD is designed for people like you. You should stick to AMD from now on. thumb.gif

Yeah I didn't notice it at first, but do you have that Core2 Duo overclocked? I would only grab a Core2 quad if you can get it cheap. Used if possible. tongue.gif
