I know some of you would advice me to take yamakasi over the u3011 because of price wise, but it is not an issue in this thread because my friend wanna sell his U3011 for $580 and I can't get my mind now!

So back to the question, which one is better in your humble opinion?I'm leaning toward picture quality..biggrin.gif
I'm glad if someone who have these two monitor to share their thoughts here.. Thanks in advance!!thumb.gif

U3011 is a better monitor for productivity related activities.

The Korean monitors, with their lack of a scalar (therefore, faster displaying) and their glossy front are better suited for gaming.

I've been in a somewhat similar position myself as I can get the U2711 for almost the same money as a Korean monitor, and it's a hard decision to make... but I will end up going for the Korean monitors. smile.gif

If you care about image quality and text sharpness yet, if not, no.

I was considering the U2711/U3011 before. I thought it might be not that bad. I went to Microcenter to check the anti-glare coating and found it's really annoying, especially if you need to do a lot of text reading or editing. So I gave it up.

You really need to see it by yourself.

Catleap is going to look better due to the better panel, no AG coating, and higher pixel density. U3011 will have an extra 160 rows or about 11% more pixels.

AG coating isn't all that bad for gaming and movies where things move around a lot, but when you are reading text or trying to focus in on something, it's horrid. I did the AG mod on my older monitor and I was amazed at what I peeled off my monitor. It was like a plastic shower curtain. If you are doing stuff where you need color correctness like Photoshop, you will benifit from not having AG coating. Here's a picture of a monitor with and without AG coating under a microscope:

I would go for the Catleap. You would also save $200.
