SLI 570 - Worth the switch to 680?

Thread Starter
Curious as to what anyone thinks about selling two MSI GTX 570 OC's for a 680.
I only play games at 1080p but am wondering if 2GB of VRAM will be enough for games like BF3 and future titles.

I would end up throwing another 680 in SLI later, but plan on immediately watercooling it.
Anyone in a similar situation, what was your decision?

I went from GTX 570 SLI to GTX 680 SLI. Let me tell you this as I only have 1 of them right now since the other is a Step-Up I'm waiting on...

Do it.

The 680 is silky smooth and I truly think that although slightly lower in 3DMark scores, the 680 is just overall better. Better graphics, smoother, higher VRAM.

Sell both those suckers for $400 and then buy a GTX 680. My opinion.

Yeah it definitely is a huge upgrade. I'm just concerned that the 2GB VRAM is a limiting factor and contemplating whether I should wait
for EVGA's 4GB version.

im waiting on evga's 4gb card as well but if you aren't playing over 1080p/multi monitor then 2gb vram will be fine.

Honestly, you should read up. These new cards have something with them that make it so VRAM isn't as big an issue.

There are a few games where GTX570 sli will wipe the floor with a single GTX680. Like Metro 2033, Stalker Clear Sky, Just cause 2 in 3d. I'm not sure if or how much drivers will help in that area. In games that don't scale well in sli like Alan Wake the 680 will be faster and in games that do the best that you can hope for is for it to match your current cards. On the other hand you don't have to deal with sli bugs and microstutter.
