Awwwwwwww, Audio newbie biggrin.gif you guys are so innocent. Generally the Beats blow, only their higher end Pro +$300 phones are decent but even then they're still overpriced. I'm a bang for buck guy and whether I'm spending 50 bucks or 500 bucks I want to get the most out of my cash so I will be biased againts Beats for the reason.

What kind of music?

How much is it for games, music or movies?

Do you want to hear other people? or do you want more seclusion and noise cancelling?

Do you plan to use them on the go? if so how much. (yes i realize you said on iphone but how much)

Do you want little earbuds for easy of use and carry or larger phones for better soundstage?

If I was buying a closed pair for home use for the price I would probably go with either the CAL's $73.53

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-EF0060-Aurvana-Live-Headphones/dp/B000ZJZ7OA/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1333154266&sr=1-2

The Shure 448 $99.99

http://www.amazon.com/Shure-SRH440-Professional-Studio-Headphones/dp/B002DP1FTU

the Sony V6's $70.71

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-V6-Monitor-Series-Headphones/dp/B00001WRSJ

Or the ATH A700 man did their prices jump though frown.gif $126.98

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-A700-Audio-Technica-Headphones/dp/B000E9VKUQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1333154706&sr=1-1

A few different price ranges but all are fine headphones, and please note the prices I listed are directly from Amazon and some third party vendors might have them cheaper. If I had to choose right now I would go for the Shure most likely since the CAL's go on special sometimes for under 60 bucks.

Until tomorrow only, Electronics Expo has the Denon AH-D1100 for $99. I think at this price, these are the best headphones you can get. I also like the Fostex T50RP which I am listening to right now. Compared to my Denon AH-D5000 the Fostex is surprisingly good in some respects. It's $74 shipped from B&H Photo right now.

You must use this coupon code MARCH2012 and again, you only have until tomorrow to order.

I have the Sennheiser HD 429s, and they sound amazing. The 439s are supposed to be even better, and they come with 2 different cables

I second the T50RP's, amazing headphones regardless of pricetag, I prefer them over my DT990 Premium 600 Ohm and Ultrasone Pro 900. I added some Stax 02 ear pads, but there are much cheaper decent ones out there.

Excellent headphones with great sound. Also, they have a removable cord which makes it easy to replace in case it breaks.

These are also pretty good apparently. A guy on Head-Fi.org made a review (http://www.head-fi.org/t/541654/denon-dn-hp700-review-and-comparison-to-the-ah-d7000) and he said they were very similar to the 1000$ AH-D7000 although the sound was slightly less "spectacular". Also, they fold so that's a big plus for portability though the cord is long and coiled so that may not be ideal. I should receive the pair I ordered friday so PM me if you want to have some info on them. thumb.gif

P.S. These are also low impedance headphones so they'll run pretty well on portable un-amped devices (Especially the HD 439s).
