Laptop heat , and overheating issues !

Thread Starter
My lenovo z575 has a Temp threshold of 99C after that it cuts power entirely .
How safe is that 99 ?
Can it get damaged by overheating a few times ?
It has a Llano a6 3400M cpu with a dedicatd 6650M . What is the max safe temp of these ?
The APU can Crossfire with the 6650 , but than it gets really hot , it an even overheat after a few hours . Not sure if this can damage the laptop .

Also what about Undervolting ? I heard the Llano series can be undervolted really well .

I believe the maximum operating temperature of these processors is 100c, so 99c is waay too hot. From my experiences, if something overheats only a few times, it won't cause any major damage, but will severely shorten the lifespan of the device over time.
Also, be sure nothing is blocking the air vent/intake if you are using the laptop on any surface other than a hard surface, like on the couch.
As for undervolting, I don't have any experience with laptops, but I know that undervolting graphics cards can reduce temperatures tremendously. Also, in windows control panel, being sure your computer is in balanced/power saver mode can help lower temperatures as well.

Hope it works out!

^ All of that sounds right, but running at any temp below Tmax is completely safe. I'd try to stay 5-10C under just to account for the possibility of load increasing, etc.

Try K10Stat to undervolt. I wrote a mini-guide here, was tested with a Turion II X2, same principles apply. Also used it on a C-50 so it should work on any APU. http://www.overclock.net/t/424756/laptop-undervolting-thread/120#post_15390772

Maximum operating temperature for the a6 3400M is 100c ?
Just installed Msi Afterburner to watch GPU temps , and the card @ 100% usage barely reaches 75c
As for the cpu . With prime95 running for 20 minutes , and its 82 this far . Heat is only a problem when i use Crossfire , sigh . I guess i have to disable The APU's graphics core , and use dedicated only .

Undervolt it. Takes all of 30 minutes to do it proper, with testing etc.

Agreed. Also, I feel I wasn't totally clear in my first post:
http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-A6-Series%20A6-3400M.html
according to this, max operating temperature is 100c. Although you can run it at 99c and it won't instantly die, it will shorten the life of the laptop drastically.

1.3 Ghz at 0.85V
800mhz (powersave at) 0.7750
And Forced 2.3Ghz Turbo for all cores 1.2125
Temps @ 2.3 with prime after an hour are below 90 .
Stock Voltage was 1.3250 .

Oh , and tried Oc dedicated Gpu with Sapphire trixx , but it BSOD'ed right away , not sure why ? Even 1 Mhz increase BSOD'd it .
