Megahalems/Socket 1155 question...need help fast!

So I'm installing my first gen Megahalems on my new 1155 ASRock board and something's not right. I ordered the 1156/1155 adapter kit and I put the backplate on the board and screwed the studs in but that was obviously wrong. There's all kinds of space in between the board and the studs so the backplate just moves up and down pretty freely. So I looked up the instructions on Prolimatech's website here, and I don't really understand step 1. What screws should I be using and how exactly would that work with two male end screws? Also, I have no O-rings that it's referring to...none came in the kit that I ordered.

What am I missing here? I feel like an idiot. redface.gif

First you don't need to order 1156/1155 kit. ASRock put LGA775 mounting hole on Extreme4 Gen3, so you could have just use LGA775 mounting system (but don't use the spacer mentioned in step 2).

You should have other parts in your original Megahalem package.

What do you mean I don't need the kit? I see the 775 holes in the board but without the backplate that came in the kit there's nothing to screw the studs into. The 1366 and the one other backplate I have don't line up correctly. In other words, I DO need this adapter. The problem I'm having is the space that's in between the studs and motherboard. It's too lose. I don't think the screws that tighten the heatsink will help that will it?

EDIT: The "issue" wasn't actually an issue. The looseness was corrected when I actually tightened the heatsink to the brackets. +rep to you guys for replying though.

You do need the adapter for the 1156/1155. Good for you. What you do not need is the rubber center spacer. That is for 775 only. The instruction is in the manuals that come with the newer Megatrons. You might be able to find one online. But just leave it off and install your beast normally.
