Any good space flying game? - Page 4

Starfarer, it's an epic game, no, it's the best space game out there. It's still in alpha, yet it has so much content, I can't even begin to explain how vast the game is.

All I can say, is that it's top down game, has epic combat, has epic customization options and overall is a great game.
Ivy, hurry up!

I was going to suggest this one too lol, it is a lot of fun, yet a bit unpolished in places as as said, it is still in alpha.

Check out my site:
http://freegameslist.weebly.com/
I'm listing free high quality (IMHO) games including space games.

Also checkout:
http://spacesimcentral.com/
Especially their downloads section. They have a comprehensive list of both free and commercial space games.biggrin.gif

It's been mentioned in this thread before but I also have to recommend Freespace 1 and 2.
Although originally released in 98 and 99 Volition released the source code and a very active modding community sprung up and has drastically improved the game's graphics and added tonnes of new content. The game is now called Freespace Open or Freespace SCP (source code project.)

Freespace is often seen by many as the one of the very best arcade style space sims, and sadly also one of the last.

here's a gameplay video of what the game looks like these days
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7e_JLfW0w8&feature=related
Though this video is already outdated, further improvements have been made.

It can be bought from Good old games for about 5.99
http://www.gog.com/gamecard/freespace_2

All you need is Freespace 2 and from there you can get Freespace 1 and it's add-on campaign for free via the Freespace port

From there you can easily use an online installer provided by the Freespace SCP to upgrade the game and bring it up to modern standards, as well as get extra campaigns.

Eve Online takes place into space but it is anything but a casual flying game, lol. If you want a simulator that's about as close as you can ever get.

Eve Online? Simulator? What?

It's just an MMORPG in space.
