Doing a massive upgrade from my PC comments/criticism needed

Ok the picture here is what I'm running, its in my signature,

upgrades being purchased next week:

AMD 8120 Bulldozer

Asus 7770 ghz edition

Corsair H80

4 Gelid 120mm case fans, ( i run 2 120s in the top of my case instead of the stock 200mm in my 600t white graphite

I'm not an expertise on fans, so if there is a better buy for 1.Color Scheme, Quieter fan, let me know, sadly new egg is my only choice of purchase right now, as its easiest on me.

i am currently only running 1 of the 5770s, one died a few months ago, and i have been waiting for the 7770s to hit, and im all giddy =D

the H60 in the picture/sig died as well, got a full RMA, and threw it on my server machine under my desk, and its quietly hosting terraria and Minecraft.

Any thoughts, let me know, the fans are my top concern as i ahve never purchased aftermarket fans, i just have 2 Antec 120s in the top fo my 600t, and they are like jets taking off. i prefer quiet over cooling, as i know this build does not get that hot especially where i live, so yea

Also im ordering a steel series 5H V2 3.5mm gaming headset, if you can recommend one better than that for the same price or lower its appreciated, as i have been using the creative WoW headset for 2 years now solid, and it hasn't failed me until recently.. love the base and the quality in the headset, and this steel series will be a first for me =D thanks again

the 7770 isnt worth it. If you've taken a look at comparisons, its pretty terrible in relation to alot of other video cards.

Go to the Most Commonly Recommended Audio Products in the peripherals/sound section for headphones recommendations. Other than that... what are you trying to do with your computer. Can't tell you if you're making a good purchase without knowing that.

7770 is actually pretty amazing if you are all about power consumption. Two in CF would a pretty good ultra low power setup.

Granted it's not the card for me but I can see how people would want it.

Biggest thing for me my friend in the CPU. You will be much better off with a 2500k in the long run. It's about the same price as 8120 and will be way better in games and just slightly slower in multi-threaded work like encoding. If you really need the multi-threaded power a 2600k will be better then both but you will pay more.

Except he would have to buy a motherboard to swap platforms.

Well then sell his motherboard? He's doing a "massive" upgrade. If he wants he can easily switch platforms without spending too much money in the process. If he lives near a Microcenter he could probabally do the 2500k+mobo for less money then the 8120 once he's done selling his stuff.

It would be easily worth it for me as a gamer. In a lot of games you won't notice the difference between the two but the second you load SC2 up and get 25FPS you won't be all that happy about your new upgrades.

Edit: He lives in PA. There is a Microcenter in PA, VA, NY and NJ. Depending on where he lives he can probabally get to one. Although PA is a big state and he could easily live several hours away.

yes i would pay more, inculding a mobo upgrade, and i truly enjoy AMD, i'm just an average enthusiast, not hardcore gaming, and i enjoy power consumption to be low, i will eventually be getting 2 of these cards (in 1 months time the second one will be purchased) i play all my games at near basic graphics at 1080p, i play to enjoy, and my 5770 gets 45 fps on average in BF3 now on medium, and I'm happy with that. so i think a 7770 is going to do what i need especially for the price. especially if im am getting another to Xfire on the crosshair V Formula i can get some good performance for the price on them, its why i chose them

i do have a YouTube channel i upload and i do render video, but most of my 20-45 minute vids in sony vegas pro render in about 25 minutes, which is fine, as i let them go when i sleep.

and yes i live in the middle of the woods pa, most new eg shipments get here in 1-2 weeks.. not 2-3 days. so a local store and a drive there is out of the question, i do Not play SC2, nor will i ever

Battlefield Series, black ops zombies with my clan and world of Warcraft, and i have ranked team in league of legends, that's about the end of my gaming. so i think my platform will work. i guess massive is not a work i should have used

Honestly, I am overwhelmingly underwhelmed by your upgrade. You're basically looking into upgrading to parts with about the same performance as your current parts.

A bulldozer isn't going to outperform an overclocked Phenom II in gaming. At least, probably not by enough to make much of a difference. An Intel CPU will out-perform your current processor, but not by as much as improving your video card. Phenom IIs are good enough for gaming I wouldn't be rushing to do so. If you want to stick to AMD CPUs, then wait for a new processor line to come out or figure out how to overclock harder on the CPU front.

A 7770 is only going to outperform even a single 5770 by only a little bit. On the GPU front, look into buying a 6870 or better yet a 7850. That would be an upgrade you will legitimately notice. Also, an SSD would make WoW & whatever else you fit on there seem smoother (decreases texture load time if WoW is on the SSD - this reduces Ironforge lag/temporarily invisible enemies in Alterac Valley while their graphics load, and other such rare problems - for other games it just decreases level load times).

As for the cooler, the H80 is fine... but a solid air cooler will be cheaper, quieter, and likely perform the same (not to mention water coolers often decrease airflow to the mosfet area). If you want something darn good there, look to a Noctua NH-D14 or a Thermalright silver arrow instead. I dunno much about case fans - except I know the Bit Fenix Spectre Pro are nice.

To summarize: unless you do a lot 3d rendering type stuff, the Bulldozer is going to be a waste of an upgrade - see if you can unlock a core/heavily OC your current processor.
Use some of that saved money not buying a bulldozer to get a med-high end video card instead of a med-low end one.
Air cooling is better price/performance and noise/performance than an H80 & while you can doublecheck, you have a nice case, so it should fit big tower coolers.
