Hey guys, its been a long time since I posted here. My dad needs to upgrade his pc to 8GB of RAM. He has an Phenom II x4 810 with an Asus M4A78T-E motherboard. I know the CPU supports 1333MHz for RAM, officially. That being said, will it run fine, with 8GB RAM at 1333MHz without any overclock or will I have to do some tuning? I'm only asking because I remember when the AM3 platform launched there were some concerns with 8GB RAM, or was that only for RAM at 1600MHz and up?
Thanks.
Oh no, i never mix and match, he'll be buying a new 1600MHz kit, and I'll downclock to 1333MHz - i like to have a little headroom if he ever did want to OC at least a bit.
It will be possible to run that DDR3-1600 kit at the full 1600Mhz speed (pending possible appropriate CPU-NB voltage increases) through the often incorrectly documented x8 memory multiplier.
