AHCI enabled but no Remove Hardware option

I'm trying to get one of my SATA ports to be hot swappable (it connects to the Cooler Master 690 II's X-Dock). I've managed to do it with my older motherboard which was an MSI 790FX-GD70, but I can't remember how I did it and now I'm trying to make it hot swappable on an MSI 890FXA-GD70.

I've enabled AHCI via BIOS which I can confirm because I have "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller". I installed Windows 7 with AHCI by default, and I've tried the TreatAsInternalPort registry edit (set to 0) with no luck. I'm pretty sure I'm using the Microsoft drivers as I didn't install anything else except for the Ethernet drivers.

All I remember from the 790FX was that it was initially installed with IDE, but I managed to switch to AHCI and then had the option to make hard drives removable but with my current setup, I don't get the "Quick Removal" option. If nothing else works I might use HotSwap! but I'd like to have less icons in the notification area smile.gif

Is there anything else that I can try? Anyone else have the same mobo that managed to get hot swap working? Not sure if it makes a difference but the ATA Channels under the Device Manager are not nested inside of Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller.

First go to AMD website and download SATA driver for your chipset.

Next go into the bios and look for eSATA, Hot Plugging, or external SATA option, and turn it on.

Checked MSI and AMD AHCI drivers, and checked BIOS for any hot plug option. The drivers didn't make a difference, they only changed the Standard AHCI Controller to AMD SATA Controller and now all the Channels are gone. As for the BIOS, I didn't find anything, the only thing that relates to SATA is the mode (set to AHCI) and disabling/enabling the secondary controller (Marvell controller, disabled because it can only be in IDE mode).
