1.5 in bios or cpu-z?! shouldnt go over 1.5 in cpuz.. but something around 1.45 is always better
http://ark.intel.com/products/29765/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q6600-%288M-Cache-2_40-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB%29

to the timings.. you gotta try.. for eg from 5-5-5-15 i tried 6-6-6-16 primed.. and so on

1.5 in bios. i dropped the vcore to 1.48, i also dropped the fsb a lil bitt. i've heard of people downclocking their ram from 800 to 667. would that help with stablizing maybe?

Well it seems no matter what i do i cannot seem to stablize this cpu at anywhere past 3.05ghz.. it seems the 3.1-3.3.ghz zone is a dead zone on this board and cpu. The bios just will not exit and enter windows start up. Once i bump the fsb up to 3.5ghz windows will load, however nothing ive been doing will make it stable. You guys have told me to enable LLC, but i dont believe this board has that feature..

What really sucks is i purchased this cpu so i would gett better preformance than me e8400 frown.gif but its about the same so far..

VID is 1.325V(Coretemp)
VCore is 1.488V(CPUZ)
Vcore in BIOS 1.50V
Ram timing 5-5-5-15
Ram Voltage 2.01v

I've played around with Northbridge voltage, the options are 1.39v, and 1.56 volt, and 1.7

I tried 1.56 v on NB but noticed my NB temps shot up a few degrees and still wasnt stable..

Is it just possible this motherboard cannot stable past 3.05 ghz?

:/

yeah it sucks.. i wish iwould of done more reasearch.. i stablized at 3.127ghz which i suppose isnt just horrible seeing how some people were having problem getting 2.7. i ended up doing the pencil mod. there was and still is some pretty bad vdroop on this board..

Just curious do you think this q6600@3.1ghz and a gtx 460 will play bf3 withouth stutterings?

depends on the resolution,details and anti aliasing (;

but it should work if you find the right balance (ingame visual options and graphic profile via driver/nvidia inspector).. the 460 is still a great card and your cpu got 2x4mb cache if i remember right.
you should be able to run even a 470 or 465 on it. .

so yes.. you wont get 60fps all the time but it should be well playable.

That sucks dude. I've been running a q6700 on a 680i XFX board for like the past three years until I just upgraded recently. I did the pencil mod on my board as well and it helped the Vdroop. Also flashed it with the "full-fat" bios but that's probably specific to my board. I was able to run it stable at 3.6 - 3.8 the whole time I had it. Still ran like a gem when I replaced it. I have the board, chip, water cooler and graphics card on the local craigslist but havent really gotten any bites.

Honestly, if you want I would probably just ship you the board if you send me a prepaid postage box or something. I feel kinda bad for ye. wink.gif It ain't the greatest but I know it will OC your q6600 to at least 3.2 -3.6 depending on your cooling. I dunno dude, send me a PM or something if you want and we'll see whats up.

Just Use Manualy Overclock nOt asus utility....to reach 3ghz its easy and u may need not to touch any voltages...If cpu is new... Just start increasing ur fsb by +2 and boot to windows... u can reach 3ghz without any problems im sure... after 3ghz u may cant post then increase Vcore voltages a bit.. dont go too far! and also check ur ram freq... u may need to drop ur ram mhz to let u boot... smile.gif
