Please do point out where on this manual that will teach me to I dont know close an application? Or how to send an email? What are the shortcut keys? Or maybe one of the most common question of them all, where did my files go, or the day old question how to change themes. As much as the manual is there it is generally not helpful, I dont ever remember anyone ripping opening their brand new computer and plopping down to read the manual.

As for printing and distributing every manual that is online I dont think youll find that for every machine. I mean atleast not for a high rate of 98%. Manufacturers are smart enough to know that users dont care about their manual and will not read it. What do they do? slip down a small sheet of paper of how open and close the computer. No one has the time to read through the whole thing, even the pdf files are generally ignored. In a perfect world they will probably ship a text book sized manual detailing how each circuit works, each shortcut in a windows program, and every user will take the time to read and memerize each manual for their own benefit. But in the said world Windows 8 will probably be a lot less crappy.

The Lenovo "manual" doesn't even say what OS the system comes with.
That Acer link is a service guide, and that's not included with the system. Doesn't say anything about the OS either.
The ASUS "manual" does at least mention Windows, but my EeePC 900 did not come with Windows XP at all, it came with Linux.
So again, your assertion that all OEM systems come with relevant documentation regarding OS features is completely incorrect.

It looks like he just went around and linked us to random pc manuals, and forgeting what point he was trying to prove.

Honestly, I think you're right at this point. It doesn't seem people are allowed to have their own opinions anymore. Oh well though, we'll still do what we want. I gave up on Windows for the most part a long time ago, even converted most of my family to Linux for everything they need to do (email/facebook/im), no reason to pay $100+++ for an operating system. Even have my GF used to my CLI setup and all the keybindings, although her netbook still uses win7.

i was dual booting winxp and xubuntu way back. if it wasnt for the games i love, i'd be pure linux. but with all the cheating in online games, im thinking maybe linux and my ps3.
screw ms and buying new hardware every 2-3 years just to play a new game that the ps3 will play. hell consoles live for what, 8 years ?

Yeah pretty much all I do now. Although I don't mind the low framerate and so-so graphics that consoles have, others will argue that they suck because of that. But for those who just want to casually game from time to time, it's no big deal. Even though my Ps3 rarely see's any action other than movie night here anymore.

But, if I can't get Diablo 3 to run under Wine after it comes out, I may end up running it in a VM. Although most Blizzard games will run under Linux with little to no problem, so shouldn't be too much of an issue.
