[Softpedia] The Start Button in Windows 8 Is Gone for Good - Page 8

Arguably the most ridiculous thing Microsoft has done to date...

But, if their company can sustain profit losses for years to come, hey, keep the idiot(s) who made this decision....

Nevertheless, be prepare for your shipment of FAIL Microsoft...

The only thing that makes this OS even remotely viable is Tablets & All-In-One touchscreen computers...

Other than that, I wouldn't even give Windows 8 a second glance...

You can stand by your decisions, just remember, the captain goes down with the ship. biggrin.gif

And this kind of arrogant marketing is why some people detest windows platforms.

My "decision has been final" about skipping Win8 for awhile now...

Hopefully poor sales and people not understanding the new OS will make them go back to making an improved Windows 7 for the next OS.

I wouldn't label it as the best, but im sure its going to be better then all previous releases. Change one single thing in the operating system and you get a whole handful of cry babies hahaha. The start menu isn't gone people, its just been altered into what we call Metro. Like it or not its here to stay (as I said all along). Windows 7 will be fine for the next two years until Windows 9 launches. But until then there is going to be boatloads of changes to the Windows image. Wait until developers start compiling everything for Metro. Your traditional and power users will never want to go back to the classic start menu. Why? The metro interface is just a way faster method of doing things. No matter how much you complain and cry about it, it wont go away. It's become a part of the Windows compiler, which means its final and we will see it again (Windows 9?).

No they leap-frog each other... The major advantage to DX is support and implementation of new technologies. It hardly matters that OGL had XXX feature first because its usually DX that implements it into games.

Open GL 4.0 was brought up to parity with DX11.

OpenGL and DirectX are just about equal in terms of technology and performance. I would have to go with OpenGL being the better, as all of its documentation is free. And it spans across so many platforms (even XBOX 360 ships with OpenGL). Tho DirectX is the most popular API of the two, simply because of Windows to Linux user ratio. There is a much much larger market for Windows then Linux.

I loved both my zunes, and I love my windows phone (HD7.) I think Metro is great! It just doesn't belong on a desktop, it doesn't fit. I'll be sticking with Windows 7 x64 until start is added back, personally.
