@NCIX you can select a the components you want to buy and pay them $50 to build the computer for you. But you should select from their main website, not a limited list.

Razer peripherals are good, but there are better (and sometimes more expensive) products out there; it also comes down to preference. Samsung, Intel and partially Crucial make the most reliable SSDs available, they are not AS fast, but still waaaay superior to a typical Harddrive. OCZ and Corsair products are faster, but also more prone to failure. You decide what's best for you. Also since your budget allows it, purchase 1866, 2000 or higher clocked RAM. Make sure the latencies (numbers after frequency, for example: 9-9-9-27) are also as low as possible. Meaning higher clock PLUS low latency numbers = faster RAM. Hope I could help farther.

But does 2000mhz ram gives real world gaming performence increase over 1600mhz ram?
From my computer knowledge it doesn't.
So why spend extra?
But I do agree crucial ssd's are the most reliable one.
From what build I have suggested the op can add another gtx680 in his budget, thus the build I have suggested is the most powerful gaming setup for his budget.

it does not provide that much real world performance increase BUT in benchmarking and gaming it does provide slight increases of performance. Also in day-to-day things like browsing, word editing etc. small latencies will show benefits so I would say, yes, it does have a benefit (especially at a total budget of 3000 dollars)

For gaming, faster than 1600mhz RAM will not provide a benefit for modern intel systems.

You'll need at least 1200W PSU if you overclock which I recommend with the budget you have because in case you want to buy another GTX 680 later, the only upgrade you could do for another 5 years.
A Corsair H100 CPU cooler would be great for a begginner or if you want to go deeper in your search, you can build your own custom watercool or take a kit like EK-KIT H3O 360 LTX.
With a rig like this, you need to go 1440p and get a good Monitor.

lol wut?

I'm looking for a gaming computer/ gaming laptop which is state of the art for the money I'll put in. the computer can either be pre-built or just separate parts put together and actually work together. Another option is a pre-built laptop for around 2000-3000$. I would like to be able to run high-end games such as crysis 2, swtor, diablo 3, rift and other upcoming games all on the best possible graphics and will run very smoothly. I understand that computers are becoming better and better but a computer/laptop that will last a for awhile and won't break down would be awesome. smile.gif
Computer skills 2/10: I'm still new to this whole concept of building a computer or even knowing what does what.
key parts: monitor, tower/laptop, mouse, keyboard, mouse pad.
Goal and needs:
- budget of 2000-3000$ applies to all features and costs of shipment, taxes, mouse, keyboard, monitor etc...
- able to run high end games on best possible quality smoothly.
- not looking to upgrade too often.
- very fast.
- power supply needed to run computer and a few other light things.
- gaming keyboard (quiet, comfortable)
- gaming mouse and mouse pad ( quiet, comfortable)
- monitor which functions best with tower and other applications.
- best cooling methods but is not hard to set up.
- If it would be worth purchasing a brand name or pre-built laptop/desktop with warranty
- location or sites to purchase parts or rig from (I'm from Canada, Ontario)
- overclocking: no.
- system usage from most important to least: high-end games, surfing web, movies.
- nice looking case
-approximate purchase date: Mid July- August 2012.
- will pay little more for rig if it is highly worth it.
- required cables or other things to function properly.
I'm not so knowledgeable on what parts are better and how to run it or the abbreviations used to communicate with, so user friendly responses are appreciated and thank you so much in advance for taking the time in reading and commenting. biggrin.gif

The place you are going to need to look to buy parts NCIX Canada they seem to have great deals here and there. Personally Pre-Built is garbage, do not waste your time. Since you do not want to Overclock you will need to buy the highest clock speed CPU you can. Buy the time you buy the 3700 CPUs will be available. Best cooling set up for a non experienced person would have to be air cooling. Along with the 3700 CPU you will need a z77 motherboard.

Cool your jets bro. If we all thought like you then computer building would not grow as a hobby.
