LG IP225V VS DELL ST2220L ?

Thread Starter
Hello guys ,
as the title suggests im torn between these 2 monitors.

basically i want an led hd 22" monitor within a budget of 170-190 usd in indian currency 8000-9000 rs for any indians here smile.gif

i have searched the market n did some research and this is what i found

dell st2220l

pro---best bang for buck at its price point
great performance and color reproduction with good response times.

con---a little backlight bleeding towards the lower edges

lg ip225v

pro---IPS panel really good color reproduction and picture quality
the best bang for buck ips monitor.

con---5-8 ms response time frown.gif

i could not see live demonstration of lg ips monitor but reviews r good...the only thing worries me is response time...

my main usage will be gaming, movie watching and forumming tongue.gif

so help my out guys which ones a better buy ?

The Dell is better for gaming and it is glossy. The LG will be excessively grainy (all matte IPS are) and all of the LG branded IPS panels have slow response times even though LG makes IPS panels. Any monitor can come with back-light bleeding.

The dell ST2220T is not the same as the ST2220L the ST2220L is a lower end monitor that is just a decent TN with no touchscreen features.

The ST2220T is a fantastic monitor aside from the stand, but it's not what the OP included in his post. He mentioned the st2220l

To be honest, I'd suggest the IPS225V over the ST2220L

thnx but the link u gave is for dell st2220t and not "l" ?

I thought it was a typo, wasn't aware there was a lower end TN version.

Don't buy the LG for gaming, first see if the Asus VS22/239H or Dell U22/2312hm are available, both will be better for gaming.

my budget is low and dell u series are costly here.....

so if u can just tell me finally which is better for gaming...and does response time matter too much i mean in this coontext between dell n lg.

finally any other asus/aoc/viewsonic alternatives ?
Other options:

Asus VS229h
Asus ML239H (best for gaming)
Aoc i2353Fh

These are all decent IPS panels which would be better for gaming. I get my info from here:
http://www.prad.de/new/monitore/testberichte.html

For some reason LG doesn't care about response times and most of their IPS panels are not suitable for gaming. The LG IPS235v is an improvement.

Most things out of the box are complete crap at colour reproduction. When the AOC is calibrated, it's neck and neck with the Dell U2312HM based on the review at TFT Central. Even the Dell U2312HM has to be calibrated. The AOC appears to be more prone to backlight issues though and the input lag is a lot higher than the Dell U2312HM is.
