Hi there,

I would recommend either going with Sandy Bridge-E or wait the little while for Ivy Bridge. If you cannot wait, go for the 2600K. Only problem with Sandy Bridge-E is that all the overclockable CPUs (xxxxK or xxxxX) are much more expensive than the 2600K (or other SB CPUs). As far as monitors go, make sure you have a 120Hz monitor if you game more, and/or an IPS or PLS display for colour accuracy. I own the Samsung SyncMaster SA850 PLS display and it's phenomenal. Its what you like the best; smooth images or great images.

For the case many recommend the Cooler Master HAF series, why not get a decent case from Fractal Design and add a couple of fans to get good airflow. Its more stylish / sleek and very quiet. thumb.gif

For the PSU make sure you have 80+ Gold or Platinum just for reliability and efficiency. For all the other parts I recommend you quickly read a review and see how the product does in benchmarks that are most relevant for you. No one can tell you what you need, you are the only one who knows that.

For farther questions feel free to PM me, cheers,
Dave

a 2600k would be better for video editing with its hyper threading feature
8gb ram. 16gb might help with large render files.
gtx 680
ssd
mid-size case
850W PSU for possible SLI in the future

Everything *should* fit into a $1500 budget.

not a bad little build Tarun, the only thing i would change is add another kit of RAM or change to 4 x 2GB dimms if you think 16GB is overkill.. the main advantage is with 4 dimms you will utilize quad channel with there is a noticable difference over dual..

@ Tarun just one little bit of advice unless you have taken this into account, offer a second place of purchase when using microcenter or see how far the OP is from a store.. they dont want to say drive 5 hours just to pick something up wink.gif other than that keep up the good work thumb.gif
