M$ Limits Retail License for Vista - Page 3

What will be really insteresting to see is how businesses react, as I read that Microsoft claims the majority of their "piracy" is tracked back to the Corporate Key Codes and so they will be changing how they handle Corporate editions and activation.

As I have said before, I can understand needing to buy multiple copies if you have multiple computers......but to have to buy a new copy everytime you upgrade?? With the way systems change nowadays?

The thing is though that most people don't care as they just buy a new pre-built with a new OS everytime anyway, and those of us that build our own are a small segment so they don't care if they piss us off.

Good monoploies suck........

But I figure I have about 3 more years out of XP Pro, so hopefully someone takes the next 3 years to finally kick Microsoft off it's mountain.....

I hope they call me in for some research soon. I know what I'm getting if they do!

They are getting very greedy IMO, and its bound to cause problems where the law will step in and say "Your overcharging to much..." Just like the people that refuse to shop at walmart because the company is getting to big.

....Meanwhile, Google is out there trying to get good, no GREAT applications to the masses via normal web browsers. Linux + Google = wholesome goodness. The more we back open source and great companies like Google, the more likely we are to destroy M$.

What someone REALLY needs to do is reverse-engineer directX for Linux.

Reverse Engineerning is bad. You usually don't get the results you want and its never as good as teh first thing. What they really need to do is get them damned gaming developers to code in OpenGL.

Jester! How's that distro coming along? We'll be needing you very soon with the way things are looking... =)

Activation wasn't that bad of a hassle, as long as you weren't pirating. But now they wanna stick one disk to one SETUP? Ridiculous. And the other guy was right; most people just buy pre-built PCs and never change anything inside their systems until they replace the whole thing again So they don't care about us. Boooooo

We need developers to code for OpenGL NOW!

The two best development houses, id and Epic make their engines in OGL, and zero-day compatibility with Linux.

What the **** is wrong with Microsoft? Don't they realize that enthusiasts are their bread and butter? They don't like Windows, and they need an excuse to change, and this could be it.

Vista: The biggest bust since MS Bob.
