All right! For the record not all Tim do not work within 3C of each other. Also Indigo Extreme is the best of all time and the most expensive at (30 bucks? Price check*).
Furthermore two reasons AS5 is trash.
1. 200 hour cure time. Yuck!
2. Metal based. Yikes!
It does not consist of non conductive material much like zalmam which is VERY non conductive at 4.1W/mk. (because it's carbon based) While AS5 is metal based, other products are not. That being said, spill some metal based (or worse liquid metal) TIM onto your main board and it could fry it. For liquid metal TIMs check out CooLabs.
Also this: http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=150&Itemid=62&limit=1&limitstart=1

Well, you can believe whatever you would like to believe.

After years of personal experience and trying a ridonkulous number of TIM they all work more or less the same, and its very user dependent based on your experience mounting X to Y.

Hey I could post websites that prove or disprove nearly ANY topic we can think of, but that doesnt make it accurate. This is the internet. There are TONS of people posting all kinds of nonsense out there.

That being said, the article you posted is 3 years old. In the world of computers, thats about 2 or 3 lifetimes tongue.gif

But hey if you like that super expensive TIM more power to you. Id nearly guarantee I can achieve the same temps as you with ANY TIM provided we are using the same hardware, and our ambient temps are the same.

Or at least within 3C! smile.gif

agreed.

i dont even bother whiping off the preapplied paste that came on my h80 and 620. supposedly they actually use some pretty good stuff on there and i dont have to worry about spreading it evenly or putting on too much or too little.

my friend swears by his AS5 but i actually have better temps than him with the same hardware (2600k + h80). i think any decent TIM will do just fine and temps are more dependent on the mount, ambient temps, and fans.

Anyones knows if it's enough to cool the vram and such with only heatsinks and no air on them?

yeah ull be fine as long as u have good case flow.

the vrm heat sink on the 670 only gets the hot air from the gpu blown across it anyway. plenty of people go with just liquid on the gpu and no air on the rest. if you have a side fan and good case air flow that should be good.

I've got an H50 and an ASUS GTX670 DC2, which bracket do I need? Also, I'm not 100% sure my case has enough air blowing right on the vrm (it's a well ventilated case though, so idk) so what should I look at in order to cool the vrm?

Im gonna buy the bitfenix prodigy so I will have two 120mm front fans and one 120mm fan on the back, do u think thats enough?

If you have the black one, perfect (provided that back one is an exhaust).
If you have the white one, maybe. Looking at mine, I'm not entirely sure how effective front fans would be on this thing.

just tell dwood you have the h50 and the gtx 680. your asus 670 uses the larger 680 pcb so thats why i generalized it as a 680. and if you want the bracket with the fan mount to cool the vrm and other modules just tell dwood you want the fan mount bracket...

thats a pretty basic amount of airflow. i have 3 intake/3 exhaust and im still getting the fan mount bracket. whats stopping you from just ordering a bracket with a fan mount that way you can rest assured. you can either get a silent fan or hook a normal fan to a fan controller for a quiet operation.

the fan on the bracket has nothing to do with dust since it is already inside the case. and if you get a good fan like a noctua it will be silent or u can use a fan controller. i dont see the problem here.
