Virus keeps coming back after reformat

Thread Starter
I keep getting the same virus/adware after reformatting.

I went from RAID0 to standard for my OS drive so there should be absolutely no way that the virus data could be recovered. This is the 3rd time I have gotten it now. My other HDD only contains steam games and Origin/BF3 which was all reinstalled and redownloaded after I disabled my RAID0 array and reinstalled windows.

I keep getting popups saying my drivers are seriously out of date (obviously fake). They direct me to this website. Link in code: for your own protection! (Click to show)
Code:
http://ffupdate.org/

The only websites I use on this computer are yahoo, OCN, newegg, and battlelog for BF3.

I have no idea how I keep getting this but it is annoying. AVG detected it the second time I got it and send to vault. I even traced it's file location and deleted it but it came back a third time. Now AVG won't detect it with full system or rootkit scan and everything is updated.

What should I do? This thing won't leave my pc alone. This time I can't find it to delete it and AVG won't pick it up.

Odp: Virus keeps coming back after reformat

Have you tried a full format? Quick only re-writes your partition tables and doesn't touch the data

Do you use any flash drives when you reformat that maybe contain drivers and what not? And if any of those HDD's you use to store stuff, are they connected at time of reformat too? If so on any of those, they might be infected themselves and when you connect em, it spreads the goodness all around.

It went from RAID0 to a standard setup so theres only half the data. Wouldn't be possible for the data to be recovered (to my knowledge).

the other storage devices might be the culprit, other SSD, HDD, flash drive

Uninstall AVG, install malware bytes. Boot into safe mode and do a full scan with mbam. Remove any infections mbam finds.

This,

as well as what Poseiden said. The virus could have spread capability's, so make sure to include your other hard drives/flash drives in the scan as well.
