Maybe because the 7970 is better thumb.gif

Even though my unlocked 6950's @ 6970 @ 940/1425 cf could run bf3 @ 1080p ultra max everything + AA at 75-150 fps.... There was a lot of screen tearing. I sold them both and ordered a 7970 + a koolance full water block smile.gif gonna be P I M P

In 2 weeks time I'll be placing an order for the MSI lightning. Cant wait. Going to be a huge upgrade from my 4890s. I looked at the 680s but the lightning is actually cheaper. At least it was when I last checked.

That was the final straw for me, the terrible screen tearing. I was playing SWTOR a lot and i would notice the scenery jumping around like crazy, so I tried like all the different caps and driver combos, it was still bad so I was like eff it 7970 time. Mine were actually the same as yours, both unlocked and OC-d to 940/1425 and man could they play its just the tearing was WAY too much. I guess it doesn't help that I am SUPER sensitive to it as well :/

the 680 imo isnt worth it if anyone is thinking about buying. At least the reference models arnt worth it. They have a bad power supply system..

I am selling/sold 2 gtx 570's for a 7970, and it's a trade off. BF3 definately has less FPS, like 20-30fps less on same settings. However it's still smooth, just not utilizing my 120hz monitor.

My card only overclocks to 1170 on 1.2v, but does the 1125 on stock 1.112v . All in all it's better technology, but I miss the physx, or at least the idea of it. The fan is louder than the 570sli setup, even with the 570's overclocked. The 3dmark11 overclocked graphics score dropped from 12,800 to about 9,800 max OC. However if I ever get another I'll be doing good. I'm still not sure about these AMD drivers yet. I had to uninstall the 12.3 drivers, just to install RC11, then do the -xcl trick and reinstall 12.3 to get the cards overclocked past 1125, that seemed a bit exhaustive. I'd trade my 7970 for a 680 (which weren't in stock when I got this) but I wouldn't pay any money for the exchange.
