My girlfriend has the HAF 932 now, I look at it every day. I still feel the 932 is a better case overall, more room inside, power supply on top or bottom options, better water cooling options - my 240 radiator fit up top with a push/pull configuration while in the Phantom I can only do pull. The cable management system is slightly better in the Phantom, it's got grommets and about the same amount of space in the back. I feel the 932 is more of a modders case also whereas the Phantom comes with a real nice coat of paint out of the box. The Phantom also has the fan controller built in which is an option that the 932 does not have.
I have had some quality control issues with my Phantom, something I had no issues with from the 932. The spring loaded screw on the Phantom's doors run on a piece of plastic. One of mine broke the day I got it. NZXT, to their credit, did ship one out immediately for free. I also had a damaged corner on the case. The metal side door was bent in a ripple pattern, I came this way from the factory since the box itself was perfect. The fans are proprietary size. No other 200mm fits this case without modification. Their fans are weak, I broke a fin on one of them by barely even touching them. They, again, sent out a replacement but this time it took over a month since my request somehow became forgotten about. I had actually requested to purchase a new 200mm orange fan from them since they don't list them on the website. They mailed me one for free, eventually, but I asked twice about buying more and have been ignored both times. Their service is great especially since I admitted to breaking the fan myself but the ignoring my requests to actually buy more fans is a bit odd.
Either case is great. It depends on what you want to do with it. If you are gonna do some serious water cooling, get the 932. I will replace this case in a year or two, it's not really what I want but it will do for now.
From the watercooling aspect, I've simplay seen far more Phantom watercooling projects than HAF 932 projects, and the Phantom is also exceptional for WC if you use the bottom fan mounts with rads.
I owned the HAF 932 for all of 6 months, and I hated it everyday except for the first month. I personally don't recommend either of the two cases, but I have pricey tastes. But out of the two I feel the phantom is the better case. I suppose you're right about the HAF being a modders case, I guess it really is more of a modders case.
I wouldn't water cool in either, I would purchase a water cooling case if I wanted to water cool, but that's besides the point.
