Thanks - and in your opinion the 7770 would be ok without a PSU upgrade?

You have my vote for the 7770 as well. Good card, great value, and will compliment your current setup nicely!

yeah the 7000 series uses very little power- you could run a 7950 off a 600watt as long as the cpu wasnt sucking crazy amonts

Skip the 7770 thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif Basically for the same price on NewEgg you can buy a 6850 (450w PSU can handle it thumb.gif).
You'll also have better performance over the 7770 thumbsupsmiley.png

EDIT: Didn't realize you're in the UK. If you can buy a 6850 for about the same price as the 7770, I strongly recommend you buy the 6850. Overall better performance at 1680 x 1050 and a 450w psu is enough for it.

Okay, so I came across a GTX 470 today (second hand, for cheap). Had to updgrade the PSU to accommodate it but for what I paid I can't really complain...

How does this card stack up against the 7770...?

http://www.hwcompare.com/11902/geforce-gtx-470-vs-radeon-hd-7770/

According to this the GTX is the better card - knew it'd use more power, but thats a bit crazy! I've a feeling the rest of my PC'll be holding this card back somewhat but it should still do what I want.
