BF3 is pretty RAM intensive, still. - Page 2

I get up into the 4.3gb usage range after a bit of playing. I actually got an error that shut down the game saying there wasn't enough system memory or something. Couple days later I upgraded to 8gb, no problems since.

I have a friend playing on 2GB of RAM and it doesn't shut him out of the game or crash because of memory restraints. No clue how it crashes with 4GB installed, makes no sense.

1.5gb of usage is fairly normal. don't see why anyone would expect a patch to magically reduce ram usage.
yea i can be using 4 gigs of ram (windows + a vm) launch bf3 and then in the middle of a match the game will crash due to low ram and i see it's jumped up to around 7.5 7.8 going to have to upgrade to 16 gigs that or just build a vm box

I figured it was a leak prior to the patch.

Never had a low memory crash, though!

I disabled the desktop composition and it was about 1.2GB, but I was playing co-op so perhaps, perhaps not.

I have 8gb total and when playing BF3 I have ~500mb left, occasionally I hit the RAM limit. I'd suggest you get 16gb honestly.

Anyone else get this? Is it just me?

That's why I had just went ahead and got 8.

Was in the same boat as you.

I went with 8GB when I upgraded my rig. Very cheap at $35.

I was having issues with running out of RAM when I had 6GB, stated paging to my HDD. I stated using a program that shut down all unnecessary programs while I played. It helped a bit. BF3 was still eating up a good bit though. This was all before the first patch, so I don't know if it helped. I built my new rig before they released it.

Never had a problem with running 8GB.
