Overclocking an AMD FX-6100

Thread Starter
Hey there, first time in a long time I've owned an AMD CPU, and i was looking to overclock it. ITs an FX-6100 on and ASUS M5A99X EVO with 4GB or Patriot DDR 3 memory at 1333. Whats eh best method, in the bios, or using the AMD Vision tool? And oh yeah, its being cooled by a CoolIT ECO A.L.C with Arctic Silver thermal paste.

bios would be best........try 200x20, meaning set the multiplier in bios to 20....this should put you @4.0GHz to start with

Chuck the volts upto 1.5 then go for a 22.5 on the multi and it'll give you 4.5ghz. Then slowly decrease the voltage til you find the lowest that it will stres test under.

PS, Its always better to OC in the Bios, and you'll always get better results from OCing on the Multi then you will with the FSB.

I have my FX 6100 overclocked to 4.6 with raising the multiplier to 23.0 and the cpu voltage to 1.45.
