[Info Requested] Animated .gif and transparent .png avatars not working properly

Reproducibility:

Not 100%, but seems quite common for animated .gifs, and very frequent for .pngs.

 

Repro Steps:

Upload an animated .gif file, or a transparent .png file, and use it as your avatar. Check how it comes out in the following areas:

 

1) Thread posts.

2) PMs.

3) Your profile.

4) The "latest" post pop ups throughout the forum.

 

Transparent .png not working. Shows correctly in forum threads, but not in his profile:

Animated .gif not working correctly; artifacts throughout the image, in PMs, threads, profile, etc:

Expected:

For the images to work correctly.

 

Notes:

IE9.

I've seen this happen twice in the last couple days. It seems to be a problem with the resizing of some gifs from the ones I've seen.

I can confirm this is a Bug as it also happens with my current avatar when I view it on my Profile page via the latest revision of CHROME

Known issue, ticket #6607 (been around awhile).  Upsizing gifs causes them to render weird, and crushing them results in a major loss of quality.  We've been knocking ideas around on what to do about this and where, but there hasn't been a fix.  I'll see if I can get movement on this old ticket.

so a few Avatars that looked really bad sicne the move to Huddler, seem to have Cleaned up, No longer seeing bits and lines of each incremental image leaving traces behind ontop of the next overlaying image.

I didnt get this much with my In Forum Avatar, but in my profile it looks horrofying lol!
