It you hear the thing actually, you must have done something wrong. Mine is running full speed, and I don't hear it, even with the case open (three quiet case fans and a VF900 in addition to the 9500, and still pretty quiet.)

1:1 is a recommended divider. Just set your RAM to DDR2 533 speeds, and then crank up your FSB>.

Mine is noticeable when it's on full spin, but that's why I have it on lowest. It shouldn't be *loud* though.

They're good coolers, but depends heavily on excellent airflow in the case.

There are better coolers out there, like the big Nocture, the Scythe Infinity, the Tuniq Tower, and others, but these weigh a whole lot more than the Zalman.

How good does the Airflow need to be? 2 80mm extractor fans at the back of the case good enough?

Hmmmm... I would say 120 front and rear, that's what worked on my secondary rig. Do I hear a Case Mod on the horizon?

As a side-note: My CNPS9500 is audible at full, bit not "loud" - sorry I can't be more exact insofar as a dBa rating.

Are you certain that the HSF is fully seated and not passing a very, very slight vibration?

Any intake fans? lol.

Anyways if its loud then check to see if you bent or cracked/chipped any of the blades, that will increase the noise by a LOT. Other than that the 9500 isn't really a silent cooler by my standards but it should be quiet enough.
