From Antec 300 to 900/1200

Thread Starter
So right now I'm using an antec 300 with 5 fans and it's alright for the most part but I was wondering if upgrading to a antec 900 or 1200 would drop my temps even more. I idle at around 21c and under load it goes up to 42c with a 1090T 3.6ghz. The cooler is a hyper212+ but I think my case is holding my back. What do you guys think?

Those temps are fine. If you're going to get another case get something besides another antec, they're a bit outdated and behind the game.

I think moving to a 900 would be a bad move for you if you're looking for better temps. The 900 has nothing in the way of cable management.

The 1200 would be better, but might be a little more than you're looking for. Depending on what kind of space you need, you should look at the HAF series from CoolerMaster. They range from ~$50 for the 912 to up to ~$180 for the HAF-X. The 922, and 932 are great options in the middle. They all have excellent airflow and cable management and would give you a boost in the temperature area.

What's your budget? I will say my 902 yielded some really great temps, but I couldn't bear the dated ergonomics and design. I feel like a spokesperson for Lian Li these days, but I really love my A70F; if you don't care about top-notch materials and build, a CM HAF is a solid choice.
