Opty 175
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103584

id wait and get a 165, but if you have to buy, and arent worried about cost,
get the 180, becuase if its 12 multipler, will help LOAD during OCing

Obiviosly, if you are running stock the 2.4 ghz version will be the best. IF you do decide to overclock, it really will depend on steppings.

Get the 180. Me and my bro just bought one each and although I haven't had the chance to play with it yet, my brother has his at 2.9 GHZ on high end air without even trying! It stays cool as you like also

simple as this.. if what u do supports duel core, go for the duel core. if its gaming and other apps that dont support duel core its better to go with the single core. so if u try to play a game on a duel core, one core will idle with windows doing whatever it does on it.. the other will work its rear end off keeping up with the game. or at least try too...

at this point.. cpus are so fast i would say get the duel, u can do more with it, and even if ur favorite game dont use both, its not goinna lag expecially with that massive 2 gigs of ram u got

Get dual no matter what. Its pointless shelling out for single core just for gaming, soon enough all games will support dual core anyway

Thanks guys, I looked at these 3DMark05 CPU comparison tests
http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q1.../index.x?pg=13

Also, that same article showed pretty good gaming frame rates for the 180
http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q1.../index.x?pg=12

The Opty 180 seems to hold its' own pretty well............
