The big test is gaming... I was hitting low 80s before after playing a couple hours on SWTOR. Time to play and see.

You shouldn't be getting a wiggle at all from it, tighten those ties a bit more, but at this point it might be time for a reseat.

If you have one, run the 3pin into a molex adapter, so you know it's always on 100%.
Or, connect it to your fan controller & run that channel all the way.
Looks like you have room for a push fan, why couldn't you put one on again?
Push usually gets slightly better temps than just pull.

Yea going to order your hardware, then do a reseat. There is no room for anymore fans, its already hitting the memory. Going to get a couple thinner fans then do a push/pull. Was just thinking about running it to fan controller actually. Does the connector that is on the MB connect to my fan controller? So do i send you a PM for the order process?

Yes to the fan controller, and PM Dwood.

Do it, but order the bracket first... was my only mistake.

Yep.
Will pay off in the long-run, and see if you can get the one with the fan mount, to help cool your VRMs! thumb.gif

After having done the mod, I simply can't imagine using a stock cooler on any ref/non ref card; the amount of heat that is now freed up from my case is just ridiculous. Really, with the stock Twin Frozr II, the inside of my case got so hot some times (after a few hours straight Skyrim) that I'd eventually have to remove the side panel door because the MB would overheat and crash my rig.

Seriously, it's mad how much heat is jetted out the back of the case and that's coming off that radiator...just mad. Solid 120F air blowing out the back according to my digital thermometer. And my MB and everything else in the case is positively chilly, now. Only problem I have currently is having to run the house AC when I game cause the machine now heats up my room. LOL ...

And core temps dropping from 88C+ to 55C after hours of Skyrim (or any game, really) is equally ridiculous.

So yeah, I'd hack that Asus card immediately. You'll freak out and be all running around your room and giggling madly. Trust me.

LOL...

haha im in the process of getting a bracket from DWOOD...I just need to find out where i can mount the radiator for the 620 as i already have a Corsair H50 cooling my CPU...I guess i could upgrade to a H100 and mount the radiator at the top to free up the rear 120mm exhaust fan slot but then that would cost me quite a lot of money.

Another thing that worries me is there is a row of capacitors on my GTX580 which stick up quite a bit from the card, will the bracket definatly clear these for the fan mounting?

Any ideas where to mount the radiator? Here it is at the moment:

Well, technically, you could remove the top mounted 200mm and use the 620 as exhaust; you'd lose some good bling, though. And, I highly doubt your temps would be any different, in fact, when stressing the card, I'll bet your internal case temps will be WAY better than when using your stock vid cooler and the top 200mm exhaust fan.

That's what I would do, anyway; but then again, my main goal was to get that damn FURNACE video card (at least the heat from it)...OUT of my case completely. It was just ridiculous how freakish hot that thing blew up to after long gaming; hard to believe the PCB and components can take it, actually.

I personally don't think those will be a problem. I have room under my fan bracket to mount RAM sinks should I ever want to and I'm sure that those caps won't matter. I did have ONE extra fat/tall cap that almost hit and I just slightly bent the bracket away from the PCB to make sure it didn't touch (even though I don't think it would have hurt to have them touching).

The aluminum is super malleable/soft and in this regard, easily shaped should you need to flex it away a bit.

I totally dig the fan bracket aspect of the design.

Good luck and post some pics once you get it all suss'd.
