Another one of those bsod threads

Thread Starter
well for quite some time now I have been having frequent bsods. after a while I started suspecting my ram could be the issue. so I ran memtest86 for about 20 some passes and no errors occurred. time went on then I started noticing that windows was hanging at the black starting windows screen for pretty close to 10 mins, and this doesn't happen all the time, just randomly. I then started to wonder if my hard drive could be the problem so I ran seagates disk utility, with all its tests and nothing seemed to be wrong by it.
What I have noticed is that it only seems to bsod when running a game, or even rendering a video, which made me wonder if the nvidia drivers could be at fault. but after completely removing and reinstalling, the problem still occurs.

all in all the bsods, have been pretty random in errors, they seem to be a different error every time

rig is in my sig as current pc

I have attached some random bsods that I have managed to take pictures of, and some random mini dump files from a few months ago when the problem first started occurring.

I apologize if I have forgotten any important information, as well I could have forgotten some things that I have done over the past few months as well lol...

but yes, any help would be much appreciated.

when you reinstalled gpu drivers did you use driver sweeper to remove ALL remnants of previous drivers or did you just choose the fully uninstall option? I have seen it make a difference. driver sweeper from phyxion.net is ALWAYS what i use to do gpu driver upgrades or rollbacks.

not saying that this is definitely the cause of the random bsods but almost every time ive had totally random blue screens its been a gpu driver issue or ram.

Hi smile.gif

All attached dumps are a *117 bugcheck which is a TDR timeout bugcheck, usually always relates to bad video card drivers or in rare cases a dying GPU. All of the attached dumps point to the culprit nvlddmkm.sys, which is the nVidia video driver.

Please fully uninstall your video card drivers and install the latest version, you can find that here.

Also, you have many drivers that need to be updated. I will link you where to update said drivers if updates are available:
Quote:
ScreamingBAudio64.sys - Tue Sep 26 23:08:30 2006 (Screaming Bee Audio Driver, usually related to Morph Vox's voice changing program). This is a terrible voice changing program, rather than updating it, I would recommend uninstalling it, especially when the driver is dated from 2006.

c2scsi64.sys - Thu Jan 25 06:57:50 2007 (Roxio virtual SCSI miniport). Update here.

lmimirr.sys - Tue Apr 10 18:32:45 2007 (LogMeIn Remote Access Driver). Update here.

snapman.sys - Fri Jul 13 06:03:12 2007 (Acronis True Image Snapshot Manager driver also included in Seagate DiscWizard). Update here.

ElbyCDIO.sys - Tue Aug 07 15:48:36 2007 (ElbyCDIO Filter Driver). Update here.

tifsfilt.sys - Wed Aug 29 08:37:29 2007 (Acronis True Image FS Filter also included in Seagate DiscWizard). Update here.

timntr.sys - Wed Aug 29 08:38:23 2007 (Acronis True Image Backup Archive Explorer also included in Seagate DiscWizard). Update here.

tdrpman.sys - Mon Oct 29 08:29:29 2007 (Acronis Try&Decide and Restore Points Volume Filter Driver also included in Seagate DiscWizard). Update here.

teamviewervpn.sys - Thu Dec 13 04:22:09 2007 (TeamViewerVPN Network Adapter). Update here.

AnyDVD.sys - Tue Feb 05 14:06:26 2008 (AnyDVD by SlySoft, Inc). Update here.

LMIRfsDriver.sys - Mon Jul 14 12:26:56 2008 (RemotelyAnywhere Mirror Miniport Driver or LogMeIn Mirror Miniport Driver). Update here.

adfs.SYS - Mon Nov 03 11:48:14 2008 (Adobe File System Driver). Update here.

I appreciate the help, but by following onestack advise and using driver sweeper and removing everything nvidia, my pc wont even start now... it just bsods, too quick to read, cant safe mode either, same problem...

@E-peen I updated all my drivers like 2 weeks ago, but I do thank you for listing those drivers. I removed most of them as they weren't needed anyways : P

well looks like its back to re-installing windows, just hope I wont lose anything, too much to reinstall, and nowhere to back up to, would take pretty close to 5 days using my external... I might just look for an 2tb hd somewhere.

I'll post back with results when I have some, but thank you guys for the quick posts

If I may mention something, for the future, don't use Driver Sweeper unless you absolutely have to. By absolutely have to, I mean your next option is literally a reinstall of Windows because your drivers are so messed up. I would have recommended a Driver Sweeper or a reinstall if I helped you and it was just too borked in the registry to fix, but it sounded very easy from the start.

well this is bad... windows will not let me do the upgrade/repair option without starting windows to do it, and there lies the problem, I cant start windows nor safe mode it. Using system restore just keeps returning the error (0x80070003) and the windows boot fixer-uper just comes up with an error that it couldn't fix it. Doing a clean install is not an option for everything that is installed on it. This is why I liked xp, it had a repair option lol... well, any ideas anyone? as I'm out of them.

Backup what you can and do a clean install, your Windows installation is corrupt most likely from using Driver Sweeper and absolutely destroying the registry.

well I was able to do a clean install and retain most of my data, I do thank you guys for the quick responses. in short i think the verifier program was my main reason of the bsods which i failed to mention. I tried disabling it, but it didn't appear to do so. lesson learned it looks like : P

What verifier program are you speaking of?

If you are ever curious on what driver crashed the system, you can use the app WhoCrashed - which will grep your minidumps looking for related items and point you to the faulty driver, then you can work on resolving that driver issue. smile.gif
