Hey guys
So it's been some confusing past couple of days... I've just finished of my 'dream pc' last Friday after installing the last peace, the HIS 7950 and I was loving it, I had installed all my programs like Photoshop and Sony Vegas on my new SSD and my on a separate hard drive, all my games were installed, a system that had worked perfectly fine a day earlier..
**things you may need to know, using eyefinty {4320 x 900}, NO over clocks have been done yet, system worked fine with the 6850, driver up to date**
So after enjoying the title Battlefield 3 for about 5 hours in total (over 2 days) I had a crash... it jumped me back to widows after a black screen for ~3 seconds with the following error in the right hand corner of the dash board " Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered successfully, Display driver AMD driver stopped responding and has recovered successfully" (refer to picture'untitled') ( this problem would not occur when I was using the HIS 6850 with the same motherboard cpu, ram, everything)
as I tried to click on the message to get more details, it just dissipated, it wouldn't let me expand it to see more details on the message
after that, bf3 would continually crash like this, it would not let me open the game at all without this error... and after about a day of trying to work it out, my computer started to crash in things like Google chrome and eventually in windows when I started the computer... what would happen was the computer screens would go black or freeze for several seconds then return to the home screen with the error, "display driver stopped responding--" I uninstalled the drivers and installed the latest one and it did the same, BUT when i didn't have the drivers installed i had no problems, but I couldn't open any games obviously to test it properly... weird
So I couldn't do anything with the computer, it would continually crash even when I started the computer, with in 5 seconds it would crash... So I got out my windows 7 64bit, and reinstalled it and to my dispare it has started showing similar early signs... I tried to open 3d mark vantage to test if it was working and straight away I get a BSOD once it opened the first test. 0X00000116, ATIKMPAG.SYS (refer to picture)... so I tried the test again and instead of getting a BSOD I got the display driver stopped responding... I've played a few games such as AOE and AOM but when I try Just course 2 or Fallout 3 it just crashes to the display driver...
But my computer, as I even type this message, is playing weird tricks, the 3 screens keep switching, like google chrome could be on the right monitor then it switches to the middle the back then to the left monitor after a quick black screen appears
I've tested my ram and the power supply , ram works fine and the power supply had no change to the error ( I hooked up a 500watt one straight to the graphics card) I've also tested the eyefinity, tried one screen, still the same errors, either a BSOD or Display driver crash..
I've tried a lot of googling, there is no concrete answers.. some say it's power other ram some a dud card, some say even opticle drives?!?!
Have I got a dud card?? (HIS 7950 @800Mhz and 1250Mhz) should i try and return it? only purchased 4 days ago..
sorry about the wall of text
